Amy Lee Stands Up For Britney

Today something wonderful happened. My friend is getting me a karaoke version of an amazing song to sing for the talent show. This song is by Evanescence, written and sung originally by Amy Lee.

First, a side note. I adore Amy Lee. She is beautiful. Her voice is amazing, four octave range, and she writes wonderful songs. She is her own, strong individual. She has her beliefs. She has had her issues. She is stronger for it. And now to the part this is REALLY supposed to be about.

My friend told me that Amy Lee has been standing up for Britney Spears. Apparently some person put a video up on youtube of how screwed up Britney has become. (Gee I wonder why she'd be screwed up, right?) They had bits about her car crash, and various other things.

To this video, they played an Evanescence song. I love Evanescence. I love their music, I love who they are, everything. And I love this.

Amy Lee is prepared to sue (or so I'm told), and at the very least, the video is OFF youtube. She said that she didn't care what they said about Britney. But as far as she's concerned, they are not picking on her using Amy's music. Amy told them that her music is not going to be used against the other woman.

My friend says that she said "after all, she's been through enough. She deserves some sympathy". Well... that's great. That's awesome. That's amazing.

In a world where women go against each other often... In a world where music fads come and go... One artist stood up for another. One FEMALE artist stood up for another FEMALE artist. And she won.

I might analyze an Evanescence song's lyrics in the very near future. And this is from the world of music. I'm happy to see it.

Amy Lee-you rock!

That's cool. Finally someone takes a stand on this. Does anyone else think it's odd that just because she shaved her head everyone is saying she's had a mental break down? Since when does a hair cut = insanity?

K Fed released a statement

K Fed released a statement saying that hours before her haircut he threated to get a hair sample of hers in order to prove she was using drugs. I think this is why it was connected to the mental break down, coupled with the fact that she was shakey and out of it, and because she stated she wanted to shave it so "people would stop touching her". All added together, she seemed a bit out of it.

I believe it was Amanda at Pandagon who commented on how the media is currently obsessed with "bad girls" such as Britney and Anna Nicole Smith. My policy thus far has been to refuse to dignify this crud with my attention, but I think it's great that Amy Lee took this opportunity to stand up for someone who appears to be having a hard time.

Brittney Spears is THE most sexualized "object" of this entire generation. Few people acknowledge her as a person anymore. She is "the" Brittney. Saying that she wanted to cut her hair so that "people would stop touching her" and being "out of it" aren't what I would call a mental breakdown: I'd call it her reality. In fact I would say that her sanity level is frighteningly in tact, all things considered.

I was insane before I got my hair chopped off.
Yes, I am very happy. I'm proud of the music I listen to because the bands are cool. Because they're nice people and they take a stand.
I don't care one way or the other about Britney, I hate her music, and I don't have much to say about her. But I'm glad she's getting a little sympathy, at least.
Everyone deserves a bit of sympathy now and then.

I am always so disgusted whenever I hear anybody ragging on Britney Spears! I don't care what anyone says, I like her. She's a human being just like anybody else. The woman is so objectified :(

oh well 4 me its not so much about a girl standin up for a girl. as far as i recall amy was never a fan of britney, but it nice to see amy still thinks of brit as human that made mistakes...
