Wow that stinks! I agree with Brooke that talking to someone higher up would be a good idea. Not only because punishing you is completely unfair, but because..it's not a reaction that is very facilitative of learning. Teachers are sort of meant to foster discussion. Someone who crushes it instead, especially if he does things like this regularly, maybe ISN"T someone who should be in front of a classroom. What do other people in your class think about him/what happened?

I would also be interested in knowing which books you were discussing. I only remember Hatchet, and the only woman I remember in it was..possibly the main character's mother. Who did seem kinda 2-dimensional, looking back into my memories as an 11-year-old. Hmm.
