As for Bridget Jones 2 and feeling empowered afterwards, could it be because of the Daniel character trying to manipulate Bridget into being with him, and being the stereotypical arrogant male who is sure he knows best, but she didn't listen and followed what she wanted and went back to Mark and all turned out well?
