Since I'm not American, I don't get to vote at all, but I have to say that I'm feeling really excited about the election this year nonetheless. Just the feeling that this time next year, the president of the US will, most likely, be either a woman or a black man just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Either way, it's going to do huge things in terms of overcoming either sexism or racism. If I was voting in a primary, I think I'd probably go for Obama, although I have to admit his cozy-ing up to people in the "ex-gay" movement has me worried. That's not to say that I dislike Clinton-- she's an admirable woman, and I understand why many want to vote for her-- but I do feel that Obama's politics align more closely with my own, particularly on the issue of the Iraq war. Ultimately though, I'd urge everyone to vote with their consciences-- Obama or Clinton it's a positive step.
