Obama's Health Care Speech
Submitted by Irmelin on September 10, 2009 - 2:56am."Without competition, the price of insurance goes up and the quality goes down. And it makes it easier for insurance companies to treat their customers badly - by cherry-picking the healthiest individuals and trying to drop the sickest; by overcharging small businesses who have no leverage; and by jacking up rates.
Insurance executives don't do this because they are bad people. They do it because it's profitable."
UM.

Can I... can I gesture madly about the room and ask, "Did anybody else see that?" Am I going crazy? He did NOT just say that. I wasn't watching the speech, I just read it--was there a visible confused flinch from the audience, or did people just dully stare past it?
Dear Obama
Submitted by Brooke on May 20, 2009 - 6:27am.Dear Obama,
I really really wanted you to be MY president. The type of guy who I could say, yeah, that dude is my president. I'm happy HE is in political office. I wanted to be able to scream your name from the roof tops.
Then you had to ruin it all by putting more troops in Afghanistan and you haven't ended the war. I thought you were all "anti-war", that is what you told US. That is why all of us who marched on Washington against the war voted for YOU. To BRING OUR TROOPS HOME! Not just move them around a little.
Then you made me all happy by having your people say you wouldn't allow the federal government to come in and arrest people for growing marijuana in states where it is legal. Ah, then what the heck happened in California?
My feelings about history being made...
Submitted by Elizabeth on November 11, 2008 - 9:12am.Tonight, Well tonight has made me have true hope for America again.
At 8pm pacific time on November 4th, as they announced OBAMA was going to be the the 44th President of the United States. The first ever African-American president. I cried. I cried for everything I've ever wanted to see happen in the US but never thought would. To finally see someone of color hold the number one government spot in the United States just made me feel true HOPE.
The first time I ever heard Obama speak, was when he was running for Senate in Illinois. I was watching C-SPAN with my granny, and I told her "wow he would make a good president one day". But I never thought that could happen. With how racist America can be, I never thought that the first year I can vote for a President I would be voting for Barack Hussein Obama!
