Personal Information

Biography: I am a proud feminist in the big state of Texas. While my atmosphere growing up was mostly reserved and conservative, I somehow managed to develop a strong feminist agenda. Taking cues from Riot Grrrl legends, I picked up guitar and several other instruments in hopes of one day being able to kick as much ass as they do, both musically and politically. And while I'm not kicking too much ass in the music department anymore, the strong and unapologetic words that the same music spoke were also my bridge to feminism. I hope I'm able to carry that same torch through this project, and most importantly, pass it on to some of you.
My sheroes: Kathleen Hanna, Inga Muscio, Tammy Gomez, Sandra Cisneros, Oprah Winfrey (of course), Eve Ensler, Judy Chicago, Jennifer Baumgardner, Betty Friedan, My Aunt Phylis, Kim Gordon, Tank Girl, My 9th grade art teacher Melba Roller, Each and Every staffmember of the WGS program at UT, Women's clinic employees and the lovely ladies that run Bookwoman.
Personal goals: Right now, my immediate goals are graduating college, becoming more active in the fight for reproductive rights and picking up my guitar, again.
My longterm goals are earning (and somehow paying for) a Masters degree in Clinical Counseling with a concentration in Women's studies, so that I can become a full-time employee of a women's shelter.

Hobbies: Knitting, crafting, renting movies, cooking fancy meals, reading and collecting cats
