General Information
Personal Information
- Biography
Dr. K is an assistant professor of English at a school in the wilds of Alabama. For an English professor, she is a computer genius, although compared to most techgeeks, she is a dancing bear. Her current book-in-progress explores how and when men and women had the power to say ‘no’...in medieval England.
In her near-mythical “spare time” Dr. K reads comic books by the likes of Warren Ellis, Alan Moore, and Carla Speed McNeil. When she’s in a city, she goes dancing. She likes to watch the fishes [sic] at aquariums, as well. Otherwise she goes hiking on the mountain near her home. She spends far too much time and money at coffeeshops.
- My sheroes
My paternal grandmother raised 9 kids through the depression, ran a household, and had side jobs to try to feed everyone. She made all their clothes until they were 12 & considered old enough to run their own traplines (fur). She had to give up one daughter to distant relatives in the city. She loved, respected, and was respected by, her husband every day of their married lives. She saw 2 of her sons die young, and sent all but one of the rest into war to be able to use the GI bill to go to school if they came back: they all came back. She grew roses and apple trees. She sang and played organ and piano. She was disowned for marrying my grandfather.
and she was a helluva woman.
