Personal Information

Biography

So, this is the part where I tell you about myself. Diosa, okay, I guess that's easy. I am your average teenage girl. I'm mouthy and confident in my mind, and usually my body. Many teenagers mistake confidence for sluttiness, but I am trying to change that idea. I live with my mom and her partner of 8 years, and my dad lives in Scotland with my step-mom. I'm not a PETA-kid, I don't spell the word "wymyn", I'm not a radical in any sense of the word. I just think we need to change. NOW.

My sheroes

Ms. Gill, my old dance teacher. I haven't spoke to her in a while, but back in class, she always brought the power of the earth into her through the movement of her feet. I've wanted to dance like that ever since, although I did not realize it right away, and am not taking lessons at the moment.

Personal goals

(in no particular order)don't pigeon hole myself and others - trust someone enough to talk - become a better listener - go to midwifery school - be happy with delayed gratification - ...Other than that, most of my goals are worldly, because I can't not suffer if the world is still doing so. Yeah, I'm probably setting myself up for a big fall, but I'm a teenager, and besides, doesn't everyone grow up and wish they never put limits on themselves?

Bragging Rights

I suppose I'd like to brag about attending the Million Women March on Washingtion two years ago. It didn't change my feelings, only intensified them, and made me proud of my opinions. And I have been acting in my school's one-act championship ensemble. We've won state three years in a row, and second place last year. I also just became a member of the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy's Youth Leadership Team.

Favorite books

The Fifth Sacred Thing; by Starhawk, The Red Tent; by Anita Diamant, The Secret Life of Bees; by Sue Monk Kidd, Lamb; by Christopher Moore, The Mists of Avalon; by Marion Zimmer Bradley, Naked; by David Sedaris, Circle of Friends; by Maeve Binchy

Favorite music

Anything. ...almost. I'm not a big fan of death metal, you can't hear what they're saying! But the bass beat is nice. I like to play the drums, not a set, but hand drums. I used to play the cello, and I kick myself now for quitting. Basically I'll listen to anything.

Favorite Films

The Princess Bride, Kill Bill 1 and 2, Amelie, Alice in Wonderland, Mallrats, Lawrence of Arabia, Finding Nemo, Memiors of a Geisha ...I could go on, but I can't think of any else right now.

Hobbies

I love to crochet. I make a lot of purses, and some hats. I also love to dance. Any kind of dance. And reading, usually realistic, but not historical fiction, sometimes really good biographies.
